Our Mission

On February 26th, we went to the Audubon Society and took a tour of the property. Cat and Kate have both decided that their course of action will be working on rebuilding the Audubon's lifted garden beds. In total there are eight beds that are in different states of disrepair. All they need is a little bit of TLC and some new screws and they will be able to house seedling of the most beautiful natural New Jersey native plants. The intended goal is that these beds will be used for future projects done by the society. The Audubon has been experiencing an influx of non-native plants taking over the forest floor, so we have been asked to clear out the non-native plants and begin to repopulate the forest with native plants.

The second part of Cat and Kate's project will be to fix up the Enchanted Forest. This is where their education side will take over. Currently there are tables and chairs in the forest that are made out of the logs of fallen trees. Unfortunately, these logs are doing what fallen trees do and they are beginning to rot. What Cat and Kate intend to do is take already fallen non-native black locus trees and use these as the the base of the tables and chairs in the Enchanted Forest. The tables will then be topped with a "tree cookie" that will be able to be screwed off and replaced in the event that the tops of the tables begin to rot again. In addition to fixing the sitting area, the girls would like to create a new set of wind chimes for the area, as well as some large scale bird nests, and stone games for the children to play with while they are in the enchanted forest.

Overall, the goal is to do as much as possible while partnering with the Audubon society and keep taking on as many projects as possible.

Update as of 2/14/18

In addition to the above mentioned projects we will also be helping to repopulate the milkweed plants that grow throughout the Audubon.
